A: We take care of the permitting process for your residential project, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained. Our team is familiar with local regulations and works to streamline this part of the process for your needs. Working with an Architect should be easy and convenient, and we strive to streamline most of the work so that the process is as smooth as possible. Every jurisdiction has a different review process and review timeline. Most Cities within Santa Clara County, San Mateo County, and Contra Costa county will require a Planning Approval as well as a Building Permit Approval. Those are two separate applications. We keep you in the loop as we track the permit application, submit plan check revisions, and receive our approvals.

The cost per square foot can vary based on the complexity of the design and local construction costs. During the initial consultation, we can provide a more accurate estimate tailored to your specific residential project and location. Relatively simple single story additions and new homes can range between $350-$450 per square foot. Two-Story Additions and Two-Story homes will likely float somewhere between $450-$550 per square foot. Custom architectural details such as vaulted ceiling, wood beams, covered porches , California rooms, and high-end interior finishes always contribute to higher overall costs.

The first step would be booking a call for your initial consultation. Click the “New Project Inquiries” or “Contact” button to do that. We’ll figure out a good morning or afternoon to chat. We find it challenging to gauge a person over just a single phone call, and we always recommend an in-person meeting after our first call. It’s important for us to our clients know who we are from the get-go, our personality, sense of humor, style and creative thinking. In most cases, we’ll be working together for a few months, and a wonderful Client-Architect relationship is important for the many conversations we’ll have along the way!
